Day 5, Monday July 30 - St. Louis, Mo.
Today is a free day for the participants of our rally.  Most of us spent the morning doing chores, laundry, car washing, auto parts, etc.  A news crew from the local CBS affiliate station came to our hotel to film a report about the rally for the nightly news.  After lunch, we all visited the St. Louis Police department and academy.  This department has a fantastic Audio/Visual section in the department, equipped with a complete television studio.  Kelly Crawford, who is in this business field, was impressed at the equipment on hand.  Commander Maj Roy Joachinstaler of the St. Louis PD arranged a evening ride along with Lt Tim McEntee for our members. In the evening, I drove out to Ted Drewes Frozen Custard shop on Watson Ave.  This is a very famous Frozen Custard Stand on Route 66.

Day 6, Tuesday July 31 - Eureka Springs, AR.
Long day … met with Pulaski County Sheriff J.T. Roberts at Rolla, Missouri.  We were then joined by Bill Miller, a member of the PCOOA (Police Car Owners of America) with a restored 1960's Rambler Pulaski County Sheriffs unit.  These two vehicles joined us into Springfield, where we detoured off old route 66 toward Branson and the Arkansas State line.

At the state line we were met by Sgt. James Post, one of the leading experts in vintage Police Cars and president of the PCOOA.  Sgt. Post led us into the city of Eureka Springs in caravan.  After checking into our Hotel, we participated in a light and siren cruise to a nearby lake where we were greeted by a local car club that sponsored a Bar-B-Que for our participants.

Pulaski County Sheriff J.T. Roberts met us at Route 66 Motors, east of Rolla, MO.

The Sheriff joined us for lunch at the "Cookin from Scratch" restaurant in Doolittle, MO.

Day 7, Wednesday August 1 - Tulsa, OK.
This morning we visited the Last Precinct Police Museum.   Very complete displays and collection of police memorabilia and vehicles.   They also have a well-stocked gift shop.  After touring the museum and more photos in front of the building, we continued through the rolling hills of Arkansas, back into Missouri, through Joplin to the Kansas state line.

Upon arrival at the Kansas state line, we were met by 3 state police vehicles with 7 state troopers.  In addition to the troopers, we were met by another member of the PCOOA driving a restored 1964 Ford Galaxie “Mayberry” Police cruiser.  In the town of Galena, local police officers and Cherokee County Sheriff's officers joined our caravan. We all traveled to the Rainbow Arch Bridge for photos.  This bridge is the last remaining bridge of it's kind on Route 66. After that brief stop, the entire caravan of 10 vehicles continued to lunch at the "Café on the Route" restaurant in Baxter Springs.

After lunch we waited for the media to show from nearby Jefferson, MO, but only the local Baxter Springs newspaper showed up on time.  The television reporter showed up as we were leaving and we gave them some good footage and a brief interview before heading into Oklahoma.  On the way to Tulsa, we detoured on the last remaining sections of 9-foot-wide roadway just west of the city of Miami.
